120,000 Armenians, including 30,000 children and 20,000 elderly people, have been under blockade since December 12, 2022, as Azerbaijan closed the only road connecting Artsakh to the outside world. This has led to a HUMANITARIAN CRISIS with shortages of basic necessities such as food, medicine, and hygiene items.
Moreover, the infrastructure that provides electricity, gas, and internet to Artsakh is located in territories controlled by Azerbaijan, and it's often deliberately damaged, which only compounds the already dire crisis.
A number of issues caused by the crisis can be fixed with financial means. So it is essential that we come together and make donations to help Artsakh overcome the crisis and achieve self-sufficiency.
* Donations made to the fund will be allocated based on the prioritized directions, and reports will be provided in time.
Following discussions with the government of Artsakh, the Diaspora, and various Armenian organizations, we've identified the most pressing issues that need to be addressed right away.
As a result of the blockade, a serious shortage of baby food has arisen in Artsakh. Traveling Doctors NGO, which was traveling around various communities of Artsakh and providing free medical services to residents before the blockade, is now trying to solve the issue of baby food shortage in Artsakh.
In today's world, having access to hot water is a basic need, but the Haghorti village in Artsakh, is not connected to the gas network and frequent power outages only make the problem worse. The installation of solar water heaters will bring a significant change to the lives of the 42 families residing in Haghorti by providing them with the means to heat water.
The 5 schools in the Martuni region are facing serious energy consumption issues, which is affecting the quality of education for the children. The installation of solar photovoltaic plants on the roofs of these schools will provide a stable power source, proper heating and thus a better learning environment for children.
Food security becomes extremely important as a result of the blockade.
Greenhouses are a good solution to Artsakh's problem of losing arable land, as they can help it live autonomously for a long time.
Before the war, Artsakh had over 35,000 bee colonies, but now, due to the loss of bee-breeding areas, their total number has dropped to only 8-9.000. Giving hives to villagers in the mountainous areas of Artsakh will help revive the beekeeping industry and promote self-sufficiency despite the blockade.
1.How will the aid get to Artsakh?
Before the blockade is lifted, the collected goods will be stored in Goris and transported to Artsakh by the Russian peacekeepers and Red Cross staff.
2.How much money is planned to be raised?
The Fund hasn't set a specific goal, as it's not clear how long the blockade will last or what the budgets for potential projects will be.
3.What is the difference between the fund and the projects?
Donations to the general fund are directed to address pressing issues in the specified directions (by accredited organizations). When choosing to support a specific project, your donation is directed to the implementation of previously presented projects.
4.What are the accredited organizations?
As we're raising funds, organizations previously accredited by us and trusted by the public, are joining us as project implementors. Their list is regularly expanding...
Tufenkian Foundation
Traveling Doctors healthcare NGO
To the Community NGO
Artsakh Support Body ASB
5.To what extent is the government of Artsakh involved?
The government of Artsakh is closely working with the organizations involved in the crisis relief measures in order to immediately formulate the demands and submit them to the platform.
6.Will we be informed of what the donations were used for?
Once the projects are implemented, ALL the donors will receive a detailed report on the costs and impact, as prepared by the implementers.
7.When is the amount sent to the project implementers?
Once the necessary funds for a specific project are raised and the Artsakh government has confirmed that the project is of high priority, the funds will be provided to the organization that submitted the application.
8.Are the projects reliable?
The reliability of the projects is ensured by reArmenia through a thorough review process of the applications (a clear description of costs, partners, beneficiaries, and deadlines). Only if the requirements are met, a contract will be signed with the given organization.
Dear supporter of the Artsakh Relief fund project,
With the unfortunate loss of Artsakh and the crisis around forcibly displaced people, the available amount of money in the project's account will be allocated toward establishing a socio-psychological center for the people of Artsakh.
Through this center, a team of psychologists, social workers, therapists, and other experts will reach out to communities across Armenia. Their aim is to assist our compatriots who have been forcibly displaced from Artsakh, helping them rebuild their lives to a fulfilling extent.
For further insights into the project, please find the details HERE.
Thanks for being that caring.
