2 years agoTraveling Doctors NGO, which was traveling around various communities of Artsakh and providing free medical services to residents before the blockade, is now trying to solve the issue of baby food shortage in Artsakh.
The Traveling Doctors will again make their way around Artsakh following the blockade.
“Mobile Clinic” team provides high-quality medical services to residents of small border communities in Armenia, Artsakh and abroad affected by war, epidemic, or disaster.
People in these border communities face serious health issue due to lack of basic medical services and financial resources.
Since 2019, our “Mobile Clinic” team has treated over 500 patients in 15 communities in Armenia and Artsakh, enabling them to get back to their normal lives.
Today, we need your support to implement the project.
Please find the project budget here.
Facing life’s countless challenges, people in border communities put their health on the backburner.
As a result, their condition worsens putting their lives at risk.
Our medical trips are a great way to help them care for themselves and get back on their feet.
Edik, a retired colonel from Artsakh, had been forced to leave his home.
He also had medical challenges, symptoms like heart palpitations, a sore throat, frequent sweating, fatigue...
Our team examined him and discovered that he had thyroid nodule. After a month of treatment and follow-up consultations conducted over the phone, Edik was able to recover.
During a routine ultrasound examination, our gynecologist Armen Mkrtchyan met a woman in Mushkapat, Artsakh. She came in holding her grandson's hand. "Doctor, you helped us have this grandchild; now we want another," the woman said.
5 years earlier, this boy’s mother with infertility issues had come to see Dr. Armen. His treatments worked and she was able to get pregnant with this boy. They are now back again with the same request; they want another child.
After our trip, the head of Yegtsahogh village said, “Even if there was just one sick person in the village, the fact that you visited us gives us so much hope and faith to stay in this town and defend it.”
Aside from medical treatments, the “Mobile Clinic” team also provides preventative health education to people in these communities.
They include:
· the importance of vaccinations,
· breast cancer self-assessment,
· making treatment decisions,
· and more.
At this stage, we identify the communities and villages that need immediate medical services. We contact the local self-government bodies to collect the data of people who need medical treatment.
Depending on the needs of the patients, a medical team is composed of the best professionals from Armenia and abroad (cardiologist, sonographer, pediatrician, etc.).
Visits last 3-5 days. During each trip, doctors conduct examinations, provide medical advice and treatment.
The patients are in constant communication with the doctors. This helps to prevent emerging concerns, and the patient has all the means for self-treatment.
We are a group of specialists from Armenia and abroad united around one idea. In addition to state-of-the-art medical services, we educate and equip patients with the necessary tools and information to ensure their well-being after the tour.
Considering the precarious situation and ongoing threat faced by Artsakh, the resuscitation trainings provided by Traveling Doctors Health NGO hold paramount importance. These trainings aim to equip Artsakh's medical staff with essential BLS knowledge, ensuring their preparedness to save lives in any given situation.
The mannequins in these trainings is crucial for the following reasons:
Furthermore, we are delighted to announce our capability to provide Basic Life Support (BLS)/ CPR trainings for medical personnel in the Syuniq and Tavush regions. By expanding our reach, we aim to enhance the overall preparedness and competence of healthcare providers in these areas, contributing to the delivery of quality care.
Marianna Amatuni, an instructor at the Royal College of Great Britain and a volunteer with the Traveling Doctors NGO, conducted "Basic Life Support/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation" courses for the medical staff of the "Kapan Medical Center" from 07.02 to 03.07.2023. Additionally, as part of the 6th International Medical Congress of Armenia (6th IMCA), TD NGO held master classes for over 800 medical workers on 04.07.2023 in Yerevan at the "Mikaelyan Institute", on 10.07.2023 in the Shirak region at the "Gyumri MC", and on 13.07.2023 in the Tavush region, Ijevan city, at the "Ijevan MC".
These courses are accredited by the Ministry of Health. The application of the knowledge gained from this training by medical workers will contribute to improving the survival rate of patients in cases of cardiac arrest. More details can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/travelingdoctors and www.travelingdoctors.org.
Considering the situation in Artsakh and the ongoing threats, the cardiopulmonary resuscitation courses offered by the "Traveling Doctors" Health NGO are of utmost importance for the medical staff in the Medical Centers of Artsakh. The courses aim to equip medical workers with knowledge and ensure they are prepared to save lives in any situation. Since mannequins are essential for such training, the Artsakh Ministry of Health offered to purchase and transfer mannequins for future online training organized by TD.
A set of Lerdal mannequins "Small Family 136-01050" has been obtained for the Artsakh Ministry of Health. However, due to the current situation with the Lachine Corridor, there is currently no possibility to transfer them to Artsakh. Until then, the mannequins are used by TD NGO instructors during trainings held in Yerevan and the regions.
