In the border villages of Syunik, statistics tell a somber story of depopulation. Yet, there are those who choose to swim against the current.

Take 11-year-old Vahe. After the war, his family moved from Yerevan to the border village of Davit Bek. They are determined to stay and revitalize their homeland, even as the local school faces the threat of closure.

The "I" Fund is establishing the "Moonq" technoschool in Kapan to ensure that for Vahe and his peers, staying home isn't just an act of heroism—it’s an opportunity for growth. We are building an environment where education serves as a guarantee for a stable future.

Preventing emigration from Syunik is a critical priority. Between 2020 and 2024, the population of Kapan plummeted from 42,000 to 33,000—a staggering 21% decline. Young people are leaving because they see no future for education or employment locally.

Our mission is to create that future right here, curbing emigration through high-tech education. We believe that in the digital age, geography should never limit a person’s potential for self-realization.

Our goal is to provide a world-class educational foundation that empowers youth to become competitive global professionals without ever having to leave their hometowns.

The Moonq Model

Our program follows a three-stage model designed to identify talent, provide specialized training, and bridge the gap to the labor market:

To ensure efficiency and reach, we utilize a "Cluster Model." Since maintaining a full laboratory in every small village is unsustainable, we’ve introduced the Mobile Lab.

Our "Technoapostles" travel through communities in a specially equipped vehicle, bringing the necessary hardware and tools to local administrative buildings or development centers. Currently, the program is already active in Kapan, Davit Bek, and Yeghvard, serving 40 ambitious students.

We are currently raising funds to continue the education of these 40 young pioneers.
