Dear friends, every year in Armenia, about 20 children get sick with a disease called Leishmaniasis, and without appropriate medical treatment, all sick children can die. When treated with a drug called Ambisome, more than 95 percent of patients recover. About 100 vials (flacons) of Ambisom are needed annually for treating all sick children, the total cost of which is only 7,500,000 drams. With the help of this fundraiser, we will be able to provide all sick children with the necessary medicine and save their lives.

Leishmaniasis is a serious disease of humans and animals, which is caused by Leishmania, transmitted through the bite of a mosquito. Syunik, Lori, Tavush, and Yerevan are the centers of the disease in Armenia. Artsakh is also endemic for leishmaniasis. You can learn more about this disease here: https://bit.ly/3DiNGU6.

Currently, 2 children with leishmaniasis are being treated in the Isolation unit of the Muratsan University Clinic: 5-year-old Grisha from Goris city and 7-year-old Narek from Abovyan, who need the mentioned medication to save their lives.

Every year, about 20 children like Grisha and Narek get Leishmaniasis in Armenia and all of them need the necessary treatment, which ensures complete recovery for almost all of them.
