2 years agoAt the end of the devastating 44-day war, a friend group of teachers, engineers, artists, and historians came together to create a community where the quest for education and the pursuit of friendship would be determinant factors in dealing with the post-traumatic aspects of the war.
In late 2020, Learning Mission was founded with the purpose of assisting war veterans in reintegrating into society by offering a comprehensive education program centered around Information Technologies and English.
Learning Mission is 501(c)(3) tax-exempt NPO.
We are proud to share that nearly 170 war veterans have become part of the Learning Mission Family. 35 of our students have successfully secured employment in the Armenian tech sector, while 5 students have been accepted into four-year university programs.
100% - of our students acknowledged that being part of the Learning Mission community helped them overcome the post-traumatic stress they developed after the war. For us, this is the ultimate definition of success.
The video presented below highlights the stories of five of our students, providing a glimpse into their unique experiences.
Success for us is a willingness to give back to the community. Seven of our graduates are now teaching and mentoring other students. We are extremely proud!

Learning Mission established a special class for students based in Artsakh in the fall of 2022. We were fortunate to make it to Artakh, meet our students, and provide them with laptops before the criminal blockade was imposed. We are proud of each of these heroes who continue their education under the most challenging conditions imaginable. Learning Mission intends to enhance its commitment to Artsakh by establishing additional classes regardless whether or not the blockade is lifted.
Learning Mission does not offer an accelerated programming language course, as we firmly believe in a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to education. Our standard program duration spans 12-18 months, allowing us to tailor the curriculum to the individual pace of our students.
We teach our students computer science fundamentals and introduce them to the C++ programming language. After 6 months, students have the option to continue with advanced C++ studies or switch to Python or Javascript tracks.
Advanced students are invited to partake in the Learning Mission Labs program, an applied experience that allows them to engage in real-world product development. Through this program, students gain hands-on experience in the entire development lifecycle and are exposed to the latest technologies.
Every student at Learning Mission takes part in English classes conducted twice a week, along with a weekly English conversation club. As part of our English education, Learning Mission places a strong emphasis on fostering soft skills.
As an educational community, we surpass the boundaries of solely teaching programming languages and English. Our students are immersed in a rich curriculum encompassing history, art, and Armenian studies. Furthermore, we regularly invite guest lecturers to share their expertise on a wide range of subjects, including genetics, finance, and various other topics.
As a community, we actively participate in cultural and technology events, and we are privileged to visit diverse number of Armenian technology firms. These experiences serve as powerful motivators for our students, transforming their perspectives on the world.
Learning Mission students visit Siemens Armenia to learn about the semiconductor industry.
Learning Mission students attending Digitec Armenia.
Learning Mission students attending the Post-Impressionism lecture with terrific Nana Minasyan.
Learning Mission students attending a Yerevan Pantomime Theater.
We wanted to express our sincere thanks for your contributions to our recent campaign on reArmenia. Your generosity will play a crucial role in supporting the Learning Mission's efforts to provide technology and English language education to the displaced Armenians from Artsakh.
We appreciate your commitment to this cause and are excited to put your contributions to work. Rest assured, your support will make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.
Thank you for your kindness and belief in our mission.
Dear Friends,
We are pleased to present the report for the "Learning Mission. Armenian War Veteran Technical and English Education" project implemented with the funds raised.
Thanks to your contributions, the campaign raised 376,262 AMD (about 9.5% of the target amount), which contributed to the implementation of programming and English courses for about 40 students.
Out of the 7 teachers conducting the courses, 2 were our former students, and out of the 40 students, 2 have already secured jobs in the IT sector.
We are grateful to all of you for supporting this project💙
