2 years agoKorniTun is an essential community center in the village of Kornidzor, located at the gates of Artsakh overlooking the Berdzor Corridor in Syunik province.
The purpose of “KorniTun” (a contraction of “Kornidzor” and the Armenian word for house, “tun”) is to establish a place where the diaspora can connect with the border and its people, realizing the intensity of the everyday situation for communities at the doors of Artsakh.
KorniTun will function as an education and technology center on the first floor, with lodging on the second floor for volunteers.
To bring the project to life at its full potential and make KorniTIn available throughout every season of the year we need a heating system.
By doing this you will bring heat to those children who will study and build a future in the Kornitun classroom, give volunteers the chance to learn more about the village of Kornidzor, and, finally, give the border population hope and a future to work for.
Kornidzor residents have been employed to complete the construction of KorniTun and will be employed after construction is concluded.
Equipped with computers and Internet access in KorniTun’s tech classrooms, local children and young adults will attend workshops and classes held by professional teachers and volunteers
They will be able to learn skills like Excel, HTML, CSS, programming, resume building, photography, videography, and other major skills.
This will equip them with the tools to provide for themselves and their families in the future, while also preserving access to a community hub to turn to in times of need.
The educational model of KorniTun focuses on long-term high-quality education delivered by both professional teachers as well as volunteers.
The students’ journey, led by a professional teacher in the industry, starts from the fundamentals of the subject of study up to mastery, such that students have enough knowledge to land a job.
The courses taught by the professional teacher will be accompanied by workshops with volunteer industry experts, which will enhance the process of study.
All For Armenia is in contact with local NGOs and companies in order to establish connections that will support students in landing their first jobs following their classes at KorniTun.
Due to the lack of infrastructure in the bordering villages of Tegh community (which includes Kornidzor and 6 other nearby villages), children have to commute 30-40 minutes to Goris for even the most basic needs.
Furthermore, volunteers who wish to serve in these border villages face the financial and logistical burden of having to likewise commute to these villages from Goris due to an absence of amenities for overnight stays.
Located in Kornidzor village, KorniTun community home will address both of these issues. Amending these problems will render the village more attractive, especially to the youth.
We believe the KorniTun community home can become a successful concept to replicate in all strategic border communities of our homeland.
By reproducing this concept in Armenia’s most vulnerable communities, we can create a strong network of community homes dedicated to attracting investment and facilitating development in our border villages, at the front lines of the Armenian nation.
Please refer to this link for the project budget.
We're thrilled to provide you with the latest developments regarding our initiative to enhance heating in our community house.
After carefully assessing our available funds, we've developed a revised budget that covers crucial expenses such as electric heaters. This modification underscores our dedication to maximizing the effectiveness of this project while ensuring the prudent use of the funds generously provided by our supporters.
As we conclude this fundraising campaign, we're evaluating our goals and budget with the possibility of reopening the program to achieve our ultimate objective. Stay tuned for further updates on our progress and thank you for your continued support.
