Armenian culture in its diversity is still not well represented on international platforms; though culture is one of the most important things helping to reveal the country, it needs to show itself to those who yet know nothing of it.
This informational gap led our team to the idea of starting a specific project, which will focus on the creation of accurate, relatable, and accessible content from different periods of Armenian culture.
Our first goal is to produce various virtual exhibitions that represent Armenia on one of the most well-known platforms, Google Arts & Culture, where many prestigious art institutions, museums, and galleries from over 80 countries have pages and online exhibitions.
Our network with Armenian museums and house-museums slowly grows, cooperating with more institutions, artists, topics to research, and exhibitions to plan.
Sarian and His Orientalism
The exhibition will focus on a number of works by an Armenian painter, also considered the founder of a modern Armenian national school of painting, Martiros Sarian. His works, which represent the life of the orient, will be the main focus of the exhibition.
Martiros Sarian "Egyptian Woman", 1911,
Martiros Sarian "Walking Woman", 1911
During this project, we started cooperating with The Museum of Martiros Sarian
Funds raised for “Armenia - Everywhere!” will help to thoroughly present Armenia on Google Arts & Culture, and make our culture visible to the world. Presence in an internationally known platform like this will create a dialogue between Armenian culture and the world, which can be transformational to our art and culture in terms of bringing attention, increasing the flow of tourists to the represented museums and gaining recognition from art lovers and critics around the world.
Our team, Yerevan Biennial Art Foundation (YBAF), has started this project along with many others to “Put Armenia on the Map”. Our goal is to create a creative ecosystem that will encourage the expansion of Armenian art and culture. Turning Armenia into a hub for art and culture and showing its diversity to the world is what we work hard for.
Join our efforts in making Armenian Culture accessible to the world!
Fund to Be Found
Thank you all for helping us in funding this exhibition.
So far we have been working on the following tasks:
We had a meeting with the Sarian family for brainstorming the narrative-line of the content. All the research job for the published materials about the artist including books, catalogs, publications has been nearly fully done.
We are now
Within the next two weeks we will be creating the first draft. after the first draft we will have a small Q&A with a small group of readers (5 locals) for checking the material quality.
After that will be done we will be creating the second draft based on comments and suggestions.
By the end of June we will be working on the creation of photo-text pairing - the preparation of the draft for second Q&A with a wider group of 10 people from different countries and different levels of English knowledge and history.
During the month of July the technical implementation will be finalized.
We are currently deciding the correct date to launch the exhibition. Either in the end of July or the first week of August.
We will inform you on our next update!!
THANK!!!
We’re extending the deadline 40 more days.
Also, We’ll be fundraising for only 2 exhibitions instead of 5. The exhibitions that are prioritized are Armenia and its Neighbors as well as Saryan and His Orientalism.
