2 years agoThis fundraiser is created in honor of a talented young Armenian woman, Sona Mnatsakanyan, gone too soon in a tragic car accident in Yerevan on 26 April 2022. It was created due to a number of requests from Sona's friends and colleagues who wish to support the causes she cared about and to pass on her legacy.
Sona Mnatsakanyan was an exceptionally talented woman with a heart for everything Armenian. She brought change to everyone in need and anywhere she could. With her life’s journey and wonderful plans tragically interrupted, taking with her the unborn baby Aria, it has now become a special mission to follow her wisdom and help fulfill her dreams about Armenia, about science and technology and the female talent within these.
The Sona Mnatsakanyan Female Talent Scholarship Fund is created to unite the people who knew Sona and her work and who wish to support the continuation of her efforts. The raised funds will be allocated in the form of one-off scholarships to talented Armenian women in three main categories: Renewable energy, Technology, and Science. The first round of scholarships will be awarded on July 30-31, 2022 - during the FemInno conference in Yerevan where Sona was going to be a speaker. Her husband, Ashot Vardanian, will deliver the talk and inaugurate the Scholarship Fund.
The main objective is to roll over Sona’s ball in supporting and uplifting Armenia and Artsakh through quality education, talent development and particularly raising girls and women, like herself.
The key results of this phase will be the funding raised for one-off awards for about 10 scholars who’ll be selected via an open call.
Ten girls and women aged 18 and above from Armenia and Artsakh, engaged in the following three main areas and with a prominent reason to support their journey:

Dear supporters,
I am happy to announce that we are continuing the Sona Mnatsakanyan scholarship program so that we can support at least 10 more female talents to continue Sona's work and pass on her legacy. In this regard, we also invite you to rejoin this important mission and support us to achieve our goal.
The awarding of the scholarship will be held again during the FemInno conference, on July 29-30, in Yerevan - www.feminno.com. You can find all the details of the scholarship on the new fundraising page.
With respect,

REPORT-SEPTEMBER
Dear supporters,
Please find the report of the project for collected funds on the reArmenia platform here.
Follow our page for updates on the next month's progress.
On 30 July during the FemInno international conference the first Sona Mnatsakanyan Scholarship was awarded to 10 young women from STEM fields. Thanks to all the generous donations these bright young people received the support which will be a boost for their professional journey to continue Sona's wisdom and pass on her legacy.
The ceremony was very emotional and also symbolic with Sona's mother passing the girls their awards.
Below are the names of the first 10 girls selected from 40 applications received. After all the awards distributed, in case there's any amount left, there are girls in the waiting list to be awarded as well.

Less than 10 days have passed since the launch of our fundraising campaign and we have already reached almost 20%, which means at least 2 scholarships will be awarded to female talents in Armenia and Artsakh. This is another sign of how much trust and sympathy you have for Sona's mission by supporting new talents like her!
Thank you all for joining us on this important journey, and let's all join together to give the campaign new momentum. Please consider sharing this with your contacts who knew Sona and care as much about education as she did. Let's celebrate her life and work as we continue her journey and hopefully realize her dreams!
