12 days agoI believe that dedication, the desire to learn, and relentless work can open even the most difficult doors. With that conviction, I’ve reached a point through knowledge and initiative where education becomes not just a personal victory, but also an investment in the future.
This journey has been marked by self-education, clear goals, sleepless nights, and many small victories — all of which brought me to the place I dreamed of: Fudan University, one of the world’s leading educational institutions.
Dear reader,
My name is Vardan Mesrobyan. I am a graduate of the Polytechnic High School and an admitted student at Fudan University, majoring in Data Science and Big Data Technology.
My journey began with an endless curiosity and a desire to explore new adventures. Over the years, this enthusiasm transformed into a deep interest in the field of data analysis. I have always been committed to self-education—learning not only within the walls of my school, but also far beyond them. For me, every moment has been an opportunity to learn and grow. Deep inside, I was convinced that education was my only way forward.
I have continuously participated in volunteer programs, conferences, and team meetings, strengthening my knowledge in programming and data analysis. I have completed online courses, obtained international certificates, actively participated in international festivals, and contributed my skills to support various communities.
At the same time, I diligently prepared for my exams, application process, and interviews. Finally, on July 4th, I received the letter I had been working toward for countless nights: I was accepted into Fudan University—one of the top 50 universities in the world. However, my family’s financial situation does not allow us to cover the final and most crucial step of this journey.
My goal is to return to Armenia with this education and become a specialist who advances the application of data science in our country’s scientific, technological, and governmental systems.
Many young people living in Armenia — including myself — face a significant challenge: obtaining a higher education that meets the demands of the modern world. The development of the tech sector requires new knowledge, an advanced environment, and international experience, which are still not fully available within Armenia’s educational system.
I realized this on my own path when I understood that I couldn’t gain the deep, practical education I needed in the field of data science here.
My education at one of the world’s top universities — Fudan — is exactly the solution that will help overcome this challenge. By receiving an international education in data science, I will gain up-to-date technical knowledge, practical skills, and global experience that are not yet accessible in Armenia.
During my university years, I aim to take part in research and creative projects focused on applying data in education, urban governance, and public administration. Upon returning to Armenia, I will pass on this knowledge and experience to my community, join initiatives dedicated to the development of the field, and promote the culture of data science application in Armenia.
The deepest goal of this initiative is to return to Armenia with a high-quality international education. Data Science and Big Data Technology is not just a profession — it is one of the foundational pillars of the 21st century. And it is through this field that we can help improve different sectors in Armenia, from healthcare to public administration.
During my studies, I plan to engage in research projects and startup initiatives that teach me how to develop real-world solutions. After graduating, I will return to Armenia with the intention of advancing the culture of data science application.
My first step will be in agriculture, where I’ve recently noticed serious issues with poor water management. I decided to work on smart irrigation systems based on data analysis, mapping, and sensor technologies. My journey will begin in my grandfather’s village — where I first met farmers who voiced these concerns — but my vision is national.
Fudan University does not provide government scholarships or financial aid to first-year students. After being accepted, each student must personally prove their funding sources.
My tuition and living expenses for one year total approximately $18,400 USD, including academic fees, accomodation rent, health insurance, and basic living costs in China.
Unfortunately, my family’s savings are not enough to cover even the minimum tuition and housing costs. For years, we’ve faced health and social challenges, directing our limited resources toward the most urgent needs. Now, as I reach the threshold of one of my biggest goals, financial hardship has become the greatest obstacle before me.
You can review my acceptance letter and detailed budget through the provided links accordingly.
Your support is not just money to me. It’s a sign that I am not alone on this journey.
Thank you for your time and attention.
