Brief Description

A soldier who participated in the 44-day war of 2020, bravely served his country, was captured during peacetime, and returned home wounded, now fights in a battle away from the frontlines. He has 3 minor children, the eldest, Hovhannes, is disabled (diagnosed with cerebral palsy). They live in a damp rented house, which can worsen the health of the family members, especially the children. They are unable to rent a better house due to financial constraints. Since they own land and have an approved house design, they wish to invest every bit of their resources into building their dream home.

Every donation, big or small, will bring us one step closer to our goal. With our support, we can create lasting change by building their house, which will help the family regain and continue their path of collective joy and face the future with strength.

IMPACT

By donating, you are not only helping a vulnerable family, but also honoring the soldier's sacrifice as part of our collective security. I am sure your support will help the family regain a sense of normalcy, and they will feel they are not alone in their struggle.

PROBLEM

The family currently faces a range of issues—social, medical, severe psychological, emotional, etc. The biggest challenge is the overwhelming pressure to build a safe home, a dream that seems impossible for them. The rented house has no bathroom, water leaks into the house during rain, and it is excessively damp, which could lead to additional health issues for the family members. Unfortunately, they cannot afford to rent a better house, as they want to invest every bit of money in building their own home.

Currently, the only working member of the family is Seyran, who, although still not fully recovered, occasionally takes on heavy manual labor (both external and internal work) to support the family.

The family also faces emotional challenges due to the condition of their loved one, health problems, and so on. It is likely understandable the issues faced by someone who has been through war, let alone captivity.

Equally important is the mission of Seyran's wife, Mariam. Raising three children, especially one with a disability who needs constant attention and care, is very difficult. As a result, she cannot work or leave the house, and she is even cut off from her everyday concerns.

SOLUTION

How You Can Help!

They are on a long road to recovery and cannot get out of this situation alone. The current rented house negatively affects their health, safety, and general well-being. Our goal is to raise targeted funds to cover the costs of construction, materials, labor, renovation, and, if possible, partial or full furnishing of the house, ensuring it becomes a fully functional home. For them, a house is not just a structure; it is the foundation of hope, stability, and love.

This fundraising initiative aims to:

- Build a safe and dignified home for the family

- Improve the quality of life for the family

- Foster long-term security

TEAM

I am Sirun Shekoyan, currently working as a project manager at OMD company. In the past, I have been involved in various social and community projects, including joint programs for refugee integration through education, implemented by the Swiss Humanitarian Foundation "KAZA" and UNHCR.

As a human being and an Armenian, I could not stay indifferent to the plight of Seyran and Mariam’s family. Mariam shared many things with me, which led to countless sleepless nights. I have done my best to spread their story, their struggles, and to involve my friends and others. Already, more than 10 supporters have joined, and thanks to over a hundred kind people, we have raised just over 1,250,000 AMD.

On my own initiative, after the 44-day war in 2020, I began visiting wounded soldiers, initially alone and then with friends, delivering 100,000 AMD raised from all of us as a token of gratitude, and most importantly, to show them that they are not alone. This is how I met this family, and our bond has grown stronger.
