A little about “Matemik” and it’s goals

Matemik is a project that shows the children of Armenia, Artsakh and Armenian Diaspora the direct connection between education and the strength of the fatherland. Our goal is to have overeducated and patriot citizens who will guarantee unity, development and a safe future for the motherland in a few years. Matemik gives opportunities to make available mathematics and programming for Armenia and Artsakh’s rural communities children. Matemik also gives students in rural communities the opportunity to look at mathematics from a different perspective and develop knowledge in favor of strengthening the state.

Problems that exist in rural communities

In rural communities, mathematics is mainly considered only as a school subject and the importance and potential of the subject is not shown. The following problems exit more deeply:

  • not much interest in mathematics,
  • low knowledge,
  • content and purposeful teaching of mathematics,
  • lack of active out-of-school life of students,
  • lack of appropriate developmental and logical games and books on mathematics and programming.

How can we solve the problem TOGETHER?

Monthly subscription is needed

Monthly 310 000 AMD will give us opportunities:

  • to raise the interest of mathematics among students,
  • to change students' approaches to the fact of considering mathematics only as a school subject,
  • to encourage students to study mathematics more meaningfully,
  • to activate the out-of-school life of students in rural communities,
  • to continue “My hero’s dream” project,
  • to provide the continuation of the programming groups of “Matemik”.

"Mathematics from the other side"

Visits will be carried out in rural communities of Lori region during the project "Mathematics from the other side" and math festivals will be organized. 1 or 2 rural communities will be visited in a month. It is planned to visit up to 20 communities in a year. During the mathematics day-festivals, experts will organize competitions, all participants will receive incentive gifts (books, developmental games, sets of logic books), which will further develop children's mathematical skills. In addition, schools will also receive professional books and games, some of which can be published with the professional contribution of "Matemik" educational NGO.

What will it give ALL OF US?

Involving rural children in similar programs gives us the opportunity to have a more educated and self-confident generation. We will work continually with the students who show the best results during the program and have a desire to further study mathematics or programming.

“My hero’s dream”

The project has been started in the beginning of 2022. 7 children of servicemen who died during the 2020 Artsakh war were given the opportunity to receive non-formal education in mathematics for free. As a result of the project, the children of the families of Vanadzor soldiers who died in the 44-day Artsakh war and different groups of 10-15 children from Lori region will have the opportunity to continuously study and develop their mathematical and programming skills.

Briefly about the implemented programs

In 2021-2022 “Matemik” educational NGO implemented “Summer school 2021”, “Fall school 2021”, “Winter school 2022” and “Spring School 2022” educational project for more than 60 children from Lorin region. They learned:

  • mathematics,
  • programming (Scratch, Kturtle, JS, C#),
  • English,
  • digital skills,
  • team-building skills,
  • first aid.

“Matemik in Artsakh” project was implemented in two stages (Fall 2021 and Spring 2022). More than 50 volunteers have done online lessons with more than 200 children from Artsakh who were taught following subjects:

  • mathematics,
  • programming,
  • Armenian language,
  • English,
  • Russian,
  • Armenian history,
  • geography,
  • physics,
  • chemistry.

21 children from Artsakh received computers.

“Matemik in Hartagyugh”

"Matemik" NGO provided the educational part of Hartagiugh summer camps in 2021 and 2022 in cooperation with "Little Star" charitable fund. During the camp, our specialists taught the children mathematics, English and computer skills using interesting methods.
