10 months agoAfter the 44-day war, the RA has faced serious challenges every day. Being surrounded by hostile states, dealing with the enemy's war threats from time to time, it is our duty to educate ourselves, equip ourselves and be ready for any development.
In 2022 our pilot program, the first aid program implemented in several border villages of Syunik and Tavush marzes, showed that at least 80% of the public does not have sufficient knowledge of first aid, does not have sufficient awareness of the correct behavior during disasters, and does not have a first aid kit.
We would like to extend our helping hand to the border with the support of our compatriots, contributing to equip families with medicine kits, and people with knowledge.
Within the framework of the organized campaign, we aim to implement First Aid courses in high schools, culture centers, and also give out one medicine kit to each family in the entire border and frontier-guarding communities of the Syunik marz in a phased form.
As a result, we will have 10,000+ people who will have the necessary minimum knowledge of first aid and at least 1000 families who will have a first aid kit in 2023-2024.
As a matter of fact, the entire border of Syunik marz has become a borderline, and each of us acknowledges the great hazard that hangs over the RA, particularly Syunik marz.
Without excessive panic and pessimism, we emphasize the importance of promptly educating and equipping the population with the necessary knowledge, how to act in war and disaster situations, how to provide first aid to themselves and their neighbors, and how to use a first aid kit.
In 2022, our research showed that not even 5% of the population have a first aid kit at home, and a few participants of the 300 surveyed people were only able to answer basic first aid questions.
This is an issue that needs to be solved without any delay.
We see the solution in education and providing with necessary equipment.
We carry out education in phases, starting with senior-year students at public schools and young people, then, giving each family a medicine kit, which would contain medicines and supplies for disaster and war situations.
We already had similar experience in December, 2022, while implementing a program in several border communities of Syunik and Tavush marzes.
On December 7-9, we were in the Tavush marz, in Norashen, Verin Karmir Aghbyur, Choratan, Movses, Artsvaberd, Berd communities, about which you can read a little at the following link.
On December 20, we had a similar program in secondary schools of Hartashen and Karashen communities in Syunik marz and the House of Culture of Khnatsakh, link.
The program will be implemented by the team of volunteers of "Sports Mission Armenia" NGO, led by the founder Armen Niazyan. The team also collaborates with first aid trainers, firefighters, paramedics.
The budget of the project is made up of the money allocated for the medicine kits, the travel expenses and the symbolic fee given to the trainers.
The campaign is divided into 3 stages, in the first stage it is planned to fundraise 3,680,000 drams (400 medicine kits and at least 8 courses), in the second and third stages 3,180,000 drams (in each stage: 300 medicine kits and at least 8 courses) respectively.
1. What does the medicine kit contain? Medicine kits are budget-friendly, as affordable as possible. They contain the most basic medicines and supplies (pain relievers, bandages, anti-inflammatory substances, disinfectants, rubber tourniquets to stop bleeding, ammonia solution, wound care supplies...).
2. Is it possible to provide the necessary knowledge in a few hours? – Yes and no. With our visits, we want to first of all emphasize the importance of knowledge, give a medicine kit, and also show the importance of all this. In addition to our multiple-hour-long training, we also plan further continuation of education via online and offline options.
3. How to have confidence about the effective course of the campaign? - Every donor can join the campaign at any time, becoming a member of the volunteer team and personally participating in each phase of the campaign. Of course, we also pledge to come up with a detailed report after each stage.
4. Aren't there more urgent issues at the border than first aid? Any issue at the border is urgent and requires a quick solution. Everyone agrees that the knowledge of first aid and the first aid kit availability is an issue not only for the border, but also for the whole society, and when we talk about the border, especially Syunik marz, this issue becomes more than urgent.

9ZEN Media Association has also joined us, providing "I'm Ready" manuals approved by the State Academy of Crisis Management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia to be given along with each medicine box.

Friends, you can find the current report with the attached link. And pictures are presented in the previous report․
On March 21-24, "Sports Mission Armenia" NGO carried out the first campaign of the "First aid course and First Aid Kit for border families of Syunik region" project.
During the campaign, the team visited 4 border communities: Khnatsakh, Kornidzor, Vaghatur and Khoznavar.
In Khnatsakh and Vaghatur, the meetings were held in the secondary schools of the villages, in Kornidzor the event was held in the hall of the village administration, and in Khoznavar in the house of culture of the village.
The meetings were attended by teachers, students, young people and elders. After the event, first aid kits with necessary accessories were given to the attendees and to the community structures, and in some places, kits were also handed over to the militia performing the service.
In total, during this campaign, 130 First Aid Kits were distributed to border families.
The participants state that the initiative is very important, especially for border residents, both to arm themselves with knowledge and to have a medicine box.
Let's also add that along with the medicine boxes, the attendees were given the "I'm ready" manual prepared by the "9ZEN" initiative.
"Sports Mission Armenia" NGO thanks all those individuals and organizations who supported and will continue to support the program.
