SHORT DESCRIPTION

Nearly every second person in Armenia lives under deep stress and needs psychological support. Our initiative, based on international best practices, offers practical and rapid-response solutions to help individuals overcome crises and build a resilient, mentally strong society.

IMPACT

During 2026–2027, the project aims to create systemic change in the field of psychosocial support in Armenia.

We plan to:

  • Build an active community that transforms the culture of psychological support and promotes a healthier society,
  • Train at least 200 responders who will provide rapid psychosocial support across the country,
  • Implement educational programs and awareness campaigns, including videos and informational materials,
  • Launch a hotline providing free and accessible psychological support for people in crisis.

Our work is backed by real results:

Since 2021, the “MIASIN” International Charitable Foundation has supported over 4,000 beneficiaries, providing stress management, crisis response, and psychological recovery services.

Feedback shows significant improvements in beneficiaries’ mental well-being and overall quality of life.

PROBLEM

Armenia is facing a deep psychosocial crisis.

Recent events—including:

  • The 2020 war,
  • The forced displacement of over 100,000 people from Nagorno-Karabakh in 2023,
  • Ongoing socio-economic stress,
  • High seismic risk—

have created long-term psychological consequences.

Tens of thousands of people are at high risk of:

  • depression,
  • anxiety,
  • post-traumatic stress disorder.

At the same time:

  • psychosocial services are limited,
  • rapid response systems are insufficient,
  • and access to timely support remains inadequate.

This has led to a societal-level crisis requiring systemic solutions.

SOLUTION

We propose the creation of a National Resilience Center as a comprehensive platform integrating clinical care, education, and community preparedness.

🔹 Clinical Center

  • Provides specialized psychological support for all age groups
  • Addresses acute stress to PTSD
  • Uses modern approaches: EMDR, CBT, Somatic Experiencing
  • Offers individual, family, and group therapy

🔹 Training Center (Psychoeducation)

  • Trains professionals, volunteers, and organizations
  • Applies a cascade training model to scale impact
  • Builds a nationwide knowledge-sharing community

🔹 Community Preparedness Unit

  • Strengthens community resilience
  • Provides guidance before, during, and after crises
  • Coordinates multi-sector response mechanisms

🔹 Mobile Support Teams

  • Rapid deployment to affected communities
  • On-site psychosocial support
  • Especially important for dispersed populations

🔹 Hotline

  • Operates 24/7 when needed
  • Provides immediate emotional support
  • Conducts screening and referral

IMPLEMENTATION PHASES

  • May–June 2026 – development of training modules
  • June–October – service launch and first training group
  • October–February – second training group
  • February–May – third group and service expansion

METHODS

  • Online and offline therapy sessions
  • Individual and group interventions
  • Educational campaigns and trainings
  • Capacity-building programs
  • Hotline-based support and referrals

EXPECTED RESULTS

  • Operational National Resilience Center
  • Active psychosocial support community
  • At least 200 trained participants
  • 4–5 response teams across the country

REQUIRED RESOURCES

  • Physical space for the center
  • Financial support for full implementation
  • Professional and technical resources

TEAM

The Foundation is the only organization in the region with established international partnerships with institutions from Israel, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, and other countries, working in the fields of psychology, stress management, therapeutic horticulture, and related areas. It also has the only internationally certified psychologists in the region.
