SHORT SUMMARY

Using cutting-edge technologies like lidar laser scanning and photogrammetry we are planning to digitize all Armenian historical monuments, in Armenia and worldwide. In this stage, we will create digital copies of 40 monuments in Syunik

After the digitization, we will store the result in the database and give access to all interested compatriots. All sites will be publicly accessible to everyone. They are all can virtually visit the monuments and learn about their history

IMPACT

This project will have an unprecedented impact on Armenian history, as the largest repository of digital models of Monuments will be created. Among the beneficiaries of this repository can be persons interested in Armenian history, architects, students of the related field, and, most importantly, all young compatriots of our Diaspora.

PROBLEM

Armenia has a rather rich several millennia history and more than 1000 historical and cultural monuments. Unfortunately, most of these monuments are gradually destroyed and disappear due to the negative influence of time, natural and artificial.

SOLUTION

By creating a database of digital models of monuments, we will create unprecedented guarantees that the given heritage will at least never disappear, and in the best case, based on these databases it will be restored in the future

1. Does the given team have enough knowledge and skills to implement the given project?

Our team has been engaged in this activity for about 10 years and has carried out many digitizations for such monuments as Garni, Geghard, Khor Virap, Noravank, Kecharis, Sevanavank, Tatev, as well as Gandzasar and Ghazanchetsots Church in Artsakh․ We also digitized all Armenian monuments in the Armenian quarter of Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

2. What technologies are we using?

Laser and lidar scanning and drone technologies will be used to carry out all the works. All materials will be stored in multiple cloud storages, respecting all security rules

3. What type of content will be created for each monument?

The following materials will be created for each monument:

• A fully 3D interactive environment of indoor and outdoor spaces
• Aerial Drone scanning from aerial 
• Creation of accurate digital drawings 
• Photo and video production
• Illustrative restoration concept designs
• Other materials

4. Where will the created materials be stored?

All materials will be stored in multiple cloud storages, observing all security rules. Also, it is planned to store the materials on hard drives and preserve them in various structures, such as the national archive, national centers for historical and cultural preservation, and other places.

5. For whom and in what form will these materials be available?

Some of the materials will have public access, and some will be available only to specialized groups and individuals who will be provided after requests.
