About Taronik

Taronik is a village in the Armavir province of the Republic of Armenia, located 15 km from the regional center Armavir and 30 km from the capital Yerevan. The population is approximately 1900 people, with 300 children attending the secondary school in Taronik, named after G. Garnikyan. Unfortunately, natural science subjects are merely considered school requirements for the children, leaving them unaware of the vast possibilities these subjects offer.

Why?

Digging deeper, we find that children in Taronik lack interest in:

• science,
• engineering, and
• mathematics.

They are not involved in:

• extracurricular groups and activities,
• contests, or
• camps.

The main reason for this disengagement is the quiet nature of the city. However, we believe that these challenges can be addressed by establishing an "Armath" engineering laboratory in our school.

What is "Armath"?

“Armath’s” mission is to empower the younger generation with skills and a mindset for the economy of the future by fostering and unlocking engineering and creative talents.

In “Armath” Engineering Laboratories, children aged 10-18 are introduced to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education through interactive after-school classes, exciting competitions, innovative camps, and more.

"Armath" in Taronik

The opening of "Armath" in Taronik will increase children's interest in mathematics, physics and science. It will give young people the opportunity to discover the world of science in their own and to apply the knowledge they have gained in the classroom. Thanks to "Armath", not only will the problems be solved, but students will also become active participants in innovation, gaining experience in areas they are currently unfamiliar with.

Our team

Students, teachers, parents, and the entire community of Taronik united around the idea of ​​having "Armath" in the village. The fundraising campaign is coordinated by our small team.

Our success

Let's highlight two events that brought the people of Taronik together and yielded positive results.

On July 30, 2023, an exhibition-sale was organized at the still non-functioning House of Culture in Taronik. Creative and talented children from the Taronik community sold their handicrafts, resulting in the collection of 144,000 drams – our first achievement.

The second achievement occurred on November 17-18, 2023. The gifted children of our school showcased their acting talent in the hall of the secondary school named after Ara Harutyunyan in Aknalich, presenting H. Tumanyan’s “The Death of Kikos” and “Carnival” tales. We sold 270 tickets and collected 270,000 drams.

Now, we need your support to raise the remaining funds required to establish the “Armath” engineering lab in Taronik.
