“Vary Varenk” Brings the Armenian National Culture Back to the Everyday Life

The War of 2020 and events in post-war Armenia prove that we as a nation are facing a number of national security issues including:

• lack of self-consciousness and homeland recognition,
• lack of patriotism and homeland ownership,
• absence of national identity preservation idea,
• non-existence of a common national goal.

"Vary Varenk", striving to solve the problems through the formation of national unity and mindset, considers the appropriation and spreading of national culture within the broad circles of the society of primary importance by the following means:

• familiarizing, teaching, and performing of Armenian national dances,
• organizing of Armenian national rituals,
• organizing of Armenian traditional games,
• teaching of Armenian national songs,
• treats of Armenian traditional dishes.

We do all these by travelling around Armenian regions, organizing united national festivals, and expanding our community with like-minded people. 

With this project we aim to enlarge the influence of our initiative and make it Pan-Armenian including all regions of Armenia. This means that from now on we will have a possibility to organize “Vary Varenk” on monthly basis, i.e. 12 events within 12 months in 12 regions of Armenia including Artsakh and Yerevan. The events will be open and free.

The Culture as the Best Way to Preserve National Identity

The Armenians inherited a cultural wealth that demands continuous care, spreading and developing. This is what the “Vary Varenk” initiative founded in 2021 is aimed at. We          inseminate the ideology of national identity preservation and homeland recognition through traditional dances, games, and rituals, in the end, having unity as a result. There is nothing more unifying Armenians over the world than the culture. The proof is our events already held in different regions of Armenia, around which Armenians unite despite of their age, gender, preferences, education, and social status. This unity soon becomes a way of living, reflected not only in dances, but also in daily decisions and behavior.

We are Volunteers

The members of "Vary Varenk" are volunteers with various professions, accomplished in multiple fields, but united around a general idea: the spreading of national culture.

Due to joint efforts of our team up to know we have organized 14 events of “Vary Varenk” in Meghradzor, different communities of Armenia hosted us including Dvin, Etchmiadzin, Byureghavan, Kaghtsrashen, Drakhtik, Tsaghkadzor, Ijevan, Vanadzor and others. “Vary Varenk” has already consolidated thousands of Armenians. 

Our team consists of dance teachers, musicians, music educator, rituals master, games referees and lot of supporters. Our chief dance instructor is Mkhitar Hakobyan who is a member of “Karin” folk-dance group and founder of “Hark” national dance group. Other members of our team are also involved in different folk ensembles. Some of our members are teachers in Armath engineering laboratories, employees of cultural centers, marketers.

We believe that the shortest and most reliable way to achieve unity is the national culture so close to our hearts.
