a year agoIt's common knowledge that art and especially films have a huge impact on the modern world or society.
What do we want the world to know about Armenia, what do we want our youth to do and to like? Do we want to stick to being the First Christian Country, or maybe we want to be The First Christian Country with highly developed technologies and a startup ecosystem?
And what do you need to make a good film or TV series? Talented author, good idea and script… And of course, money.
Talented authors - check. Narek and Sergey are well known for their on point jokes about even the most complex problems. They wrote scripts for comedy films “The Knight Move” and “The First person”. Good idea, check, we are going to talk about an attractive and a bit mysterious startup and IT world.
Now they have decided to address another issue in Armenia, the rapid development of the IT sector, which is attractive to many of us but still a bit mysterious.
You've managed to do a miracle and create a successful startup or develop a tech company, but probably you struggle with new hires and you wish IT professions are more popular in Armenia. Let’s be honest, we don’t have enough so-called talents in this field. Anytime you need a new hire, you have to find someone from your fellow companies. Consider the support to this project as a long term investment.
We are going to show the life of startups from the inside to youth. We'll show that hard work and science are a better and more secure way to have success, than being a criminal which we see in usual TV series. We’ll show that work in the tech industry has some privileges compared to other areas, but it doesn’t mean there are no serious and dramatic challenges in tech. So for the next interview you will have a bigger choice of candidates.
And what can help us do the biggest good in this direction than a quality and beloved TV series. ArmComedy authors are happy to provide quality content, and all you need to do is provide some financial support.
You finally have found your dream job, but your family and friends don’t really understand what you do for a living and you are tired of explaining it over and over? What is a startup, why is it a better way to grow rich than working in state agencies? As we all know, seeing it once is better than hearing about it a hundred times. Now you can support us in making a sitcom series based on the real stories of Armenian startups, although sometimes they may seem unreal. We are going to show the startup people, situations, wins and challenges in the most accurate and humorous way possible. It’s very likely in our series you find characters that very much remind your colleagues.
Many people still see programmers as geeks with no communication skills, with glasses, shaggy hair, and overweight. You are probably tired of hearing the same jokes about programmers all the time and might want to join the process of changing the situation. So it is your solemn duty to provide a little (by IT measures) financial support to this show, which will create a new idea of a programmer and break many stereotypes. Besides, we are sure you’ll find yourself and your colleagues in this sitkom.
For this TV series nearly 26.9 million AMD is needed. The show will have 10 episodes, it will be filmed in a real office to be as close to office life as possible.

The TechStartup project is supported by BANA, a member of Armenian startup ecosystem.
