Yerevan Perspectives: Celebrating Global Music Excellence in Armenia

The "Yerevan Perspectives" International Music Festival is recognized worldwide for its exceptional artistic standards and pioneering spirit. As the first festival of its kind in the new history of Armenia, we are dedicated to elevating our cultural landscape by presenting outstanding artists and orchestras who become ambassadors of our country.

Since our inception, multiple prominent artists, legendary musicians, and orchestras have entrusted us to showcase their talent in Yerevan. Among the celebrated performances have been those featuring the Vienna Philharmonic and Royal Concertgebouw Orchestras, Mariinsky Symphony and Berlin Staatskapelle, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic London, alongside esteemed conductors like Lorin Maazel, Valery Gergiev, Zubin Mehta, and soloists such as Evgeny Kissin, Pinchas Zukerman, and Placido Domingo.

We Ushered a New Era in Contemporary Music!

The festival has also presented a special concert series dedicated to our initiated project which is “Days of Great Living Composers in Armenia” , including Krzysztof Penderecki, Sofia Gubaidulina, Rodion Shchedrin and Gia Kancheli. 

In April 2015, we established the Festival Academy in Byurakan, which offers cultural and educational projects of international standing, with concerts taking place year-round.

Throughout our journey, we have collaborated with various Armenian governments since the 2000s, securing private and state funding, as well as support from esteemed foundations. However, as we embark on an ambitious large-scale project for the upcoming year, we find ourselves in need of additional support. Armenia’s geopolitical location presents challenges in securing stable funding, making your contributions even more vital.

We have always approached our mission with sincerity and integrity, never deceiving our audience. The festival has played a crucial role in nurturing an entire generation of music lovers, creating lifetime impressions through our concerts. The artists we have brought to Yerevan have enriched our cultural tapestry, and what you see today is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication from a committed team.

Meet Our Devoted Team: Passionate Champions of Cultural Excellence

Stepan Rostomyan: He is the founder of the “Yerevan Perspectives” International Music Festival and is recognized as a distinguished composer and Meritios art worker in Armenia and worldwide. His works have been performed and broadcast internationally, making him a key figure in the contemporary music scene. Stepan Rostomyan is an internationally known composer, and professor at the Yerevan State Conservatory. 

Sona Hovhannisyan: Sona Hovhannisyan is a highly acclaimed arts manager, public figure, producer, and cultural diplomat. As a co-founder of the “Yerevan Perspectives” International Music Festival, her extensive international portfolio includes organizing events in some of the most prestigious concert halls worldwide, including New York, London, Vienna, Jerusalem, Roma, and Brussels.

Ani Hovsepyan: Ani has been with “Yerevan Perspectives” since the early years of the festival’s success. As the communications team lead and head of administrative operations, she has over a decade of experience and holds a PhD. Ani is a true devotee of the cultural and educational activities created by the festival.

Nona Hovhannisyan: Nona is the Fundraising Specialist and Communications Member at “Yerevan Perspectives.” A graduate of the American University of Armenia, she is currently pursuing her master’s in public affairs and is an active social worker.

Our festival provides a platform for world-class musicians and orchestras while fostering a vibrant cultural scene in the region. However, the absence of established funding sources and ongoing financial support poses a threat to the festival's ability to sustain its mission and continue enriching the local community with exceptional artistic experiences. With you by our side, the festival will continue keeping its unique position and the opportunity to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the arts in Yerevan.

However, the absence of established funding sources and consistent financial support threatens our ability to sustain this mission.

We aspire to raise $1,500000 to support vital initiatives that will enrich the cultural landscape of Armenia through the "Yerevan Perspectives" International Music Festival. Here’s how your contributions will make a meaningful impact:

• $1,250000 for Supporting the 25th Anniversary of the Concert Season: Depending on the donation size you will also be able to get free tickets to the concerts of world-renowned artists such as Evgeniy Kissin, Lang Lang, Yuma Wang, Gustavo Dudamel, Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Jonas Kaufman, Roberto Alagna, André Rieu. • $75,000 for Commissions to Composers: We aim to commission 25 new pieces fro/m talented composers. This is a legendary step that will not only enhance our festival's repertoire but also contribute to the global music scene.

• $25,000 for Scholarships: We are dedicated to supporting Armenian young artists who demonstrate exceptional talent but lack the funding for masterclasses and competitions abroad. This allocation will provide 25 scholarships to facilitate international travel, allowing these artists to gain invaluable experience and exposure.

• $150,000 for Masterclasses in Festival Academy: We will host 25 workshops and masterclasses at the Festival Academy, specifically designed for artists from regional areas. These sessions will provide young talents with the opportunity to engage with the arts, fostering their creativity and passion. As in the regional areas of Armenia there is an absence of initiatives which could help the young artists, we would love to give them an opportunity to thrive.
