Khan Academy is a free, world-class online educational platform that provides educational materials for both self-learners and students of schools and other educational institutions.

The platform's tools enable teachers to identify the learners’ knowledge gaps and implement personalized, student-oriented interactive education.

The platform enables children of different grades to study math, science, programming, art history, economics and much more, using modern technologies, through which it is possible to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the learner.

For about five years, the Ayb Educational Foundation has been localizing the materials of this leading international educational platform, making them more accessible to Armenian teachers and students.

Students practice at their own pace, first filling in gaps in their understanding and then accelerating their learning. The platform offers self-learning through practice exercises, games and videos. 

Khan Academy’s materials are considered to be a world-class learning resource for learners of all ages.

Research shows that in distance learning, 96% of students and teachers have access to the Internet but lack free online quality resources.

Some communities face a shortage of teachers; there are even schools where one teacher has to teach several subjects, possibly failing in some of them.

In Armenia, students (mainly university applicants) often apply for private tutoring to fill their educational gaps.

In emergencies, such as pandemic or war, children's right to education is violated. Children are forced to temporarily or permanently change their place of residence, as a result of which they are cut off from their usual daily routine and classes. With online materials available, children will be able to continue learning and can do it anywhere and in any situation as long as they have access to the Internet.

Today, more than 60 million people from 190 countries use the platform and the educational materials developed by Khan Academy, including students and teachers from leading international universities and schools. And Khan Academy is supported with millions of dollars by a number of world-famous organizations such as the foundations of Bill Gates and Elon Musk, Walt Disney, etc.

One of the activity areas of the team of Khan Academy Armenia is to share the information and inform everybody about the platform. The Academy team regularly visits schools in all marzes of Armenia, organizes webinars and trainings on how to use the platform and tells about its advantages.
