10 months agoHayasat-1 is developed exclusively by Armenian scientists and engineers to declare our ambitions and establish our stature in global space exploration.
It's the result of tireless dedication, innovation, and unwavering pursuit – a dream held by the Hayasat-1 Team and every Armenian.
⦾ Hayasat-1 includes multiple subsystems, particularly power distribution, communications, and onboard computer.
⦾ The electrical power subsystem utilizes solar cells for electricity generation, accumulators for energy storage, electronic components for power distribution, accumulators՛ charging, and voltage supply to satellite modules.
⦾ Light sensors on the solar elements measure light intensity, while magnetometers determine the satellite's orientation by interacting with Earth's magnetic field.
⦾ Two-way communication with the Bazoomq laboratory's ground station allows for receiving various data, including system status, sensor measurements, orientation, orbital movement, and other payload data securely, as well as transmitting commands from Earth to the satellite for data downlink, mode changes, computer restarts, firmware updates, and more.
⦾ Orbital parameters, thermal management, and payload performance are monitored by a domestic device developed mainly for recording the orientation changes.
⦾ After separation from the launch vehicle, the satellite autonomously deploys its communication antennas and broadcasts periodic signals, including telemetric data and a melody from the treasury of Armenian music.
⦾ The onboard computer serves as the central controller, controlling all satellite operations.
The Hayasat-1 initiative is jointly executed by two foundations: the Bazoomq Space Research Laboratory and the Center for Scientific Innovation and Education (CSIE).
The Bazoomq Laboratory pioneers novel space technologies and engages in space research.
CSIE is dedicated to revitalizing scientific innovation and education in Armenia.
Project 1: Formation of the AYAS Aerospace Society
Date: 2018
To gather individuals with deep scientific approaches to education and research and create a foundation for further aerospace research.
Project 2: Establishment of the Bazoomq Space Research Laboratory Foundation
Date: End of 2020
To create a space research laboratory in response to a growing need for such a facility. This initiative was made possible due to the educational efforts spanning 35+ years in aerospace-related fields, leading to a generation of aerospace enthusiasts in Armenia.
Project 3: Development and Launch of High-Atmosphere Platforms
Date: 2021
To develop two high-atmosphere platforms equipped with measurement, navigation, communication, and control equipment (similar to small satellites). These platforms were launched into the stratosphere using weather balloons, marking the first time such an achievement was accomplished in Armenia. The purpose was to collect data and videos from high altitudes.
Project 4: Launch of Hayasat - Armenia's First Domestic Satellite (jointly with CSIE)
Date: Ongoing
To launch Hayasat, the first domestic satellite in Armenia's history, into a 550 km high orbit. This project aimed to establish a CubeSat laboratory with the necessary equipment to work with satellite prototypes, perform hardware and software development, integration, and testing.
Project 5: Revival of Armenia's Educational, Scientific, and Technological Potential
Date: Ongoing
To rebuild Armenia's educational, scientific, technological, and industrial potential, which had been diminished over the past 35 years. The focus is on technological progress as the key to Armenia's development and prosperity, with space technology serving as a central field of activity, particularly through small satellites like cubesats. The aim is to foster domestic and international collaborations, infrastructure creation, and startup incubation to accelerate Armenia's space activities and commercialization.
Project 6: Entry into the Global Space Market
Date: Ongoing
To establish Armenia as a significant player in the global space market. Bazoomq aims to achieve this through its successful steps in space, which would open up opportunities for collaborations, infrastructure development, and startup incubation. The goal is to secure a notable position in the global space industry.
Project 7: "Yerevan-Stratosphere" Program
Date: Launched in 2021
An exclusive and unprecedented program aimed at delivering and returning equipment to the stratosphere using balloons. This project is distinct because it involves lifting substantial equipment (1.5-2 kg) to the stratosphere, recording extensive data and videos, and safely parachuting it back to Earth while maintaining telemetry data communication. It represents a challenging task, especially given the wind patterns in Armenia.
Project 1: Launch of Hayasat - Armenia's First Domestic Satellite (jointly with Bazoomq)
Date: Ongoing
To launch Hayasat, the first domestic satellite in Armenia's history, into a 550 km high orbit. This project aimed to establish a CubeSat laboratory with the necessary equipment to work with satellite prototypes, perform hardware and software development, integration, and testing.
Project 2: Coordinated Path Following Problem of Multiple UAVs
Date: Launched in June, 2023
The objective is to create control algorithms and tactics that facilitate the coordinated navigation of multiple UAVs, potentially up to 10, allowing them to pursue their individual goals while upholding coordination, preventing collisions or conflicts, and optimizing overall system efficiency.
Project 3: Delivery Drone
Date: Launched in May, 2023
The project comprises two stages: MVP and Educational & Knowledge Sharing.
In the MVP stage, the tasks include:
Designing, developing, and optimizing delivery drone software with advanced AI/ML models for detection and positioning.
Integrating various components of the drone system, including the release mechanism, drone, AI/ML models, and sensors, with comprehensive testing to ensure proper functionality.
Preparing project materials, including software and documentation.
Project 4: Risk Aware Motion Control of Mobile Robots in Dynamic Environments
Date: Launched in November, 2022
The safe operation of robotic systems in dynamic environments is regarded as a fundamental challenge in robotics. The unexpected movement of an object or other agents, such as humans, often jeopardizes the collision-free navigation of mobile robots. In this project, the aim is to design a safe motion controller for physical mobile robots that considers the dynamics and uncertainties of the environment in a risk-aware manner.
Project 5: Forestation Drone
Date: Launched in May, 2022
The primary goal of the project is to utilize modern technologies, particularly drones, to automate and scale the tree-planting process. Its core emphasis is on elevating the success rate of tree growth through ongoing monitoring and precise care. The project is structured into various components, encompassing Planning, Seeding, Positioning, Monitoring, and Maintenance.
Project 6: Few-shot object detection based on strong self-supervised models
Date: Launched in November, 2022
The project's aim is to develop a model for zero-shot or few-shot object detection by segmenting objects using features learned from SSL algorithms. It also involves enhancing SSL algorithms to align with evolving object detection goals. To achieve these objectives, multimodal models like CLIP will be introduced to enhance few-shot object detection, object segmentation, and overall performance.
