The purpose of the project
The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute publishes the International Journal of Armenian Genocide Studies (IJAGS), an English-language journal that includes the best research on the Armenian Genocide carried out by Armenian and foreign authors. The journal is the only one in the world that deals with the Armenian Genocide itself, while there are dozens concerning the Holocaust. It is important therefore not only for the scientific community but also for every Armenian, that the research published in this journal be accessible to the wider international community, securing a worthy place for research on the Armenian Genocide on the international tree of science.
Our goal is to promote this journal in the international market by joining the Web of Science and Scopus platforms. These are the platforms where the best international journals are collected and scientific research published in them becomes available to the wider, international scientific community.
Thus, the realisation of this project will result in the best research on the Armenian Genocide becoming available to the world, contributing to the process of recognising and condemning it.
By joining this project by contributing to its implementation, you will pay your special tribute to the memory of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide, as well as to our daily struggle for the recognition of, and reparations for, the Armenian Genocide.
Breaking science boundaries
Everyone knows that science knows no boundaries. Being excluded from the international scientific community leaves the researcher without the opportunity to become aware of and influence scientific developments. Today, publications t
hat are considered acceptable and reliable by the international scientific community are mainly to be found in the internationally known scientific databases called Web of Science and Scopus. Only a few (six) Armenian journals are indexed in those scientific databases.
As a rule, it is relatively easier for the natural science subjects to be published in journals indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. The problem is more serious for the humanitarian and social sciences. To this day, one of the main problems in the humanities and social sciences fields in Armenia remains confinement, when the results of the research are presented mainly in Armenian, mostly in local journals or as monographs published in Armenia, which severely limits the potential audience.
Solving the current problems of genocide studies
Although genocide studies are a developing branch in Armenia and within the framework of the strategic priorities of the Republic of Armenia, there are problems in this sphere that need to be solved quickly. In general, the school of Armenian Genocide has two main challenges:
1 ․ Continuous establishment and development of this school, aiming at approaching international standards
2 ․ To resolve the issue of representation outside Armenia.
As a result of the successful implementation of this project:
1. The situation in the field of Armenian Genocide research when the Turkish researchers become pivotal players in it, will be changed.
2. Armenian Genocide studies carried out in Armenia will be made available to the world.
3. Armenian science will be presented on the international science map not only at the individual researcher level, by groups, laboratories and/or scientific organisations, but also in scientific journals.
The above are reasons to insist that the development and advancement of the IJAGS journal in the international arena will have multiple effects, which include:
1 ․ Development of genocide studies disciplines in Armenia
2 ․ Development of Armenology
3 ․ Presentation of Armenian researchers’ scientific results in the international arena
4 ․ Strengthening Armenia's representation at scientific journals’ levels in international science fields.
The target beneficiaries of the programme are those who are interested in the Armenian Question and Armenian Genocide, as well as of the history of other genocides as well as scholars conducting research in the field of genocide in general.
Finally, WE ARE ALL BENEFICIARIES OF THE PROGRAMME.

During the reporting period, the journal continues to receive DOIs for articles from the DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) system.
A paper version of the second issue of the IJAGS (2022) dedicated to the Artsakh issue was also printed. It is being distributed to official delegations visiting the memorial as well as sent to targeted individuals and organizations.
New articles have been translated into English, edited, and will be included in the 2023 issue of the journal.
Work continued on the improvement of the new website: http://agmipublications.am/index.php/ijags
The journal's 1st issue of 2023 is almost ready.
The final preparations for indexing the IJAGS journal in the Scopus scientific information system are almost complete.
We are pleased to announce that a Special Issue of the IJAGS devoted to the Artsakh issue is out. You can read it at http://agmipublications.am/index.php/ijags.
Our next step will be to formally apply to Scopus.
We are grateful to reArmenia and all our donors for their support.
