Dilijan has a critical shortage of sports infrastructure. Available courts are physically unable to accommodate everyone. 

At the same time, interest in sports, especially team games, is growing in society. Every day we see more and more children on the playgrounds.

Promoting this interest means giving our children and our entire society the opportunity to become stronger. As the true strength lies in unity, and nothing brings people together like sports, where everyone speaks the same language.

Based on the results of discussions with the residents of Dilijan on the issue of “essential” sports zones, we are starting to raise funds for the construction and equipment of a basketball court.

The Dilijan sports community is in bad need of accessible spaces for outdoor activities. The city is currently unable to accommodate this request.

People are trying to solve this problem on their own, agreeing among themselves on the time of access to the only available court. Unfortunately, this does not always avoid conflicts.

Children come out of the situation in a particularly dangerous way. They use highways, abandoned playgrounds and old unsafe sports fields for games. 

This results in the need to create additional sports areas and expand existing ones.

We are planning to improve an abandoned streetball court in Dilijan City Park. Now it is in very poor condition: broken asphalt, no lighting, only one basketball hoop.

Our plan calls for expanding this court into a full-fledged basketball court, with a rubber surface for safer game. 

Residents of Dilijan, participating in public discussions on the issue of accessible sports, are ready to participate in fundraising. And in the future, they propose to independently organize the Dilijan Cup and hold competitions at the new court with the participation of amateur teams from the other Armenian cities.

We have positive experience in organizing and managing public sports space in Dilijan. In 2022, we initiated the concept of reconstruction of the Dilijan City Park, on the territory of which, with the support of a donor, a universal sports ground has already been realized. Its popularity clearly shows the relevance of this fundraising. 

A publicly accessible basketball court will allow more outdoor sports enthusiasts of all ages to engage in outdoor sports. This means that the public life of Dilijan will become more active and fuller.

The main effect of the construction of a basketball court is to improve the quality of life of city residents by developing sports and supporting local athletes. The court will become a vibrant place that will help unite the community and promote an active lifestyle. 

We want to ensure that every member of the sports community can freely practice their favorite sport in a safe environment and in a properly equipped area. 

The fundraising campaign must be completed in 8 months.

The implementation period will take 90 days from the start of work. We expect to complete the court by the next warm season.

The city park, which will feature a basketball court, is the main public space of Dilijan, a popular place for recreation and communication among residents and guests of the city. There are already several facilities here where people of all ages can have a fun and interesting time.

The basketball court in this location will become a new point of attraction, making the life of the city brighter and the community stronger. Residents and guests of Dilijan should have a choice of accessible sports infrastructure and the opportunity to lead a healthy lifestyle in a comfortable and safe environment.
